CARING CITY

Designing architecture and cities with mothers in mind.

Caring City is an independent research and design initiative exploring how architecture and urban environments can better support motherhood, care and everyday life.

Through urban observations, research, participatory workshops and design, it explores how spaces can foster connection, creativity, belonging and care — creating environments where mothers are not only accommodated, but enabled to participate fully in society.

What would architecture and cities look like if mothers were at the heart of their design?

My Approach

What began as a personal reflection on motherhood and the city has grown into a space for questioning, imagining and rethinking how we design our built environments.

Caring City brings together my professional practice as an architect and urban designer with my lived experience as a mother. Rooted in everyday observations and shaped by research, dialogue and participation, it explores how architecture and cities can better support care, connection and belonging.

At its heart is a simple belief: mothers’ physical, emotional and mental well-being should be considered in the way we design.
